2008 Las Vegas Institute of Sport ‘Cotswold League’ Road
Race – Monday 21st July 2008
As part of the 2008 Cotswold League, the Las Vegas Institute of Sport will be promoting a road / circuit race on Monday 21st July starting at 7.15pm (sign-on from 6pm). With the support of the Cotswold Gliding Club and Leda Properties, LVIS are pleased to be putting on our race at the Aston Down Airfield near Chalford in Gloucestershire. Directons to the airfield are available here.
By using the full length of the outer road and
then a fast run the length of the runway (with a 180 degree turn at the end –
think the top of the
Champs Élysées
at the Tour de France!!) and back again, the circuit will be a fast and furious
4.9 miles.
The race will be run over a total of 6
laps, totalling just under 30 miles and will take the format of a handicap
event, with the novice riders starting first, the quicker riders chasing them,
and the best riders in the league setting on last in hot pursuit. To mix it up
that little bit more, there will be primes on the 2nd and 4th laps – giving the
first group a reason to stay away and fight off the faster boys chasing them.
Entry
for the race is £6 in advance or £8 on the night with a £2 day licence payable
for non-TLI members.
Following the race, the Cotswold Gliding Club will be hosting a BBQ for all riders and spectators which will also include the final prize presentation of the overall winner of the 2008 Cotswold Cycle Racing League. Tickets for the BBQ are £5 in advance and £8 on the night – for details or to book your ticket please email the Cotswold League Co-ordinator and organiser of the LVIS event (07971 190494).
